Is Hippeard's performance a national all-time record? Surely it's at least SOMEWHERE in the list. I'm not sure if there's such a list that contains EVERY college football team, but he deserves MAJOR props for his performance tonight. One of the best UVA-Wise QBs of all time, no doubt.
To do what were doing on the scholarships we have is amazing, I really dont think a lot of people understand how much of a disadvantage we are at.

Hippeard set three school single game records with 32 completions, 564 yards passing and six touchdowns through the air. The junior (Stafford, Va/Colonial Forge) connected on 20 of 26 passes in the deciding second half for 358 yards. He had three targets set career-best marks on the night. Evans grabbed six passes for 212 yards and three scores, Barbour pulled in 10 passes for 179 yards and one TD and Lovett had nine catches for 122 yards and two scores.
now my opinion on the defense. They suck. For some odd reason they do not want to stop the other team from being in the game with them. I've got a buddy that's on the defense, and they are willing to hit, and want to hit and want to stop teams. I just don't get it, it's gotta be the defensive coach.
Or it coould be that a majority of there scolerships goto the Offense (Honestly unless they are able to get more scolerships it will be tough to fill a D mainly with walkons
as the old saying goes offense is exciting but defense wins championships, this game proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt
Maybe UVA-Wise can hire Chavis from UT so that we Vols can get a real defensive coach!

please, UT has had some very good defenses over the years and put more good players in the nfl on defense than about any program save Miami. Did it ever occur that losing a guy like Justin Harrell and then playing a team like Cal on the road in the first game of the season would make a difference?
Not only losing Harrell, but what was even bigger because Harrell only played a game and a half was losing all the DBs save Hefney. Although I thought Berry looked pretty good while in there.
I wouldn't fire Chavis.......I have to give Cal props, they mixed it up a lot and kept UT's defense off balance all night long. I know one thing, Eric Berry is going to be a pretty special player after he gets a few games under his belt. The only huge problems I saw last night on defense was the D-Lines inability to pressure Longshore and force him to make a mistake. When you create no turnovers it is hard to win a game.
PVFAN, why is Sabor (sp?) not playing? I thought he was suppose to be a threat this year.
I had the same sentiments last night man. The DL has to step up. They got manhandled up front. The LBs done a pretty good job, but go tied up with lineman when they shouldn't if the DL isn't gonna play in the backfield themselves.
UT's defense cannot be totally blamed. UT does not have a deep threat offensivly to stretch the field. This allows defensed to stay back and let them catch underneath passes and come up and tackle. UT will be fine next week to tune up before the Florida game.
I agree. I didn't come away from this game totally disappointed in UT. I knew it was be a tough game in Berkley. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch in a bowl game. UT's offense looked very good. UT's D stepped up a little in the second half, but didn't force the necessary turnover. Cal capitalized on the one turnover UT gave them and UT's kicking game needs to be improved something awful. I hope Colquitts leg gets better so maybe he can kickoff a lot closer to the end zone than what they got last night.
He's got a partial ACL tear, last I heard there trying to let him play in the Georgetown game. Honestly we'd probably be better off using a medical red-shirt on him.
